Atari & Nubeo's Asteroids 45th anniversary watches carry a hefty price tag

To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the arcade video game, Asteroids, Atari has released a collection of new watches in collaboration with Nubeo. However, as far as special edition watches go, these ones are pretty expensive, but thanks to an ongoing sale, interested buyers will be able to pick up the watches for a fraction of its price.

The Ventana Automatic Atari Asteroids 45th Limited Edition watches are available in five colors — Nova Nightfall, Plasma Pumpkin, Nebula Blue, Supernova Red, and Celestial Citrine. There are 125 pieces of each color available.

The Atari Asteroids watch uses a Japanese automatic movement and has a layered disc system design. The triangle-shaped spaceship serves as the seconds hand while the asteroids and UFOs serve as the hours and minutes hands. The watch also features Swiss Super-LumiNova that allows it to glow in the dark.

The spec sheet says the watch has a sapphire lens, a stainless steel case, and 24mm silicone straps. It also has a 20 ATM water resistance rating and a 2-year warranty that starts counting from the date of purchase.

On Nubeo's site, the watches have a price tag of $1,650, but the store is running a sale that brings it down to $499, less than a third of the list price.
