Casio's GM-5600 series has stood out as a fan favorite for decades, since it was first launched in 1983. Now, a new collaboration with Los Angeles-based fashion brand C2H4 is set to reimagine this classic model with a whole new twist, and it's slated for a January 9 release.
The ‘Space Age’ edition of the GM-5600 draws inspiration from the iconic design movement of the 1960s. It features a silver stainless-steel bezel, a translucent gray resin band with red markings, and a retro-futuristic face design. The LED backlight is a pretty neat touch too - illuminating a red graphic of the Theme Building at the Los Angeles International Airport.
Collectors and enthusiasts will further appreciate the exclusive packaging that accompanies this release. The watch comes in a retro-inspired case modeled after the ATC Genie Telephone Form. As part of the GM-5600 series, this edition is expected to retain hallmark features like 200-meter water resistance, shock resistance, and a full auto-calendar.
The collaboration is quite reflective of C2H4’s past projects with similar themes. The brand brings a fresh perspective to G-Shock’s legacy with unique designs, courtesy of celebrity endorsements. The GM-5600 ‘Space Age’ will be available starting January 9 on c2h4losangeles.com and gshock.casio.com/us, with offline store availability following on January 11. Pricing is yet to be revealed.
