Casio’s angular Pro Trek PRG-69 series gets a surprise third model with a cloth band

Casio has debuted a new Pro Trek lineup with the PRG-69-1 and PRG-69-4, the first digital Pro Trek models to ditch the old-school round case for a sharper, more angular look. The watches were initially spotted last month via a French retailer, but the PRG-69 series has now gone official, appearing on both Casio International and Casio Japan. Interestingly, Casio has also revealed a third model, the PRG-69B-1, which was absent from the earlier leak and retail listing.
The newly revealed PRG-69B-1 is functionally identical to its square siblings, sharing the same flame-retardant, bio-based case and dual-layer “Duplex” LCD. Where it differs is its band. Unlike the PRG-69-1 and PRG-69-4, which use bio-derived urethane strap, the PRG-69B-1 ships with a cloth band made from recycled PET plastic fibers, giving it a more outdoorsy look. Another visual difference is the gold-accented compass markings on the bezel, whereas the PRG-69-1 and PRG-69-4 feature orange and white accents, respectively.
All three models share the same design DNA. The angular case takes cues from the PRW-6900 (PRW-6900BF curr. $403) but introduces a more industrial and tactical aesthetic. A mineral crystal protects the display, while the flame-resistant construction offers added peace of mind around campfires and outdoor cooking.
The PRG-69 sports a dual-layer Duplex LCD, which displays dynamic color compass graphics onto the top layer and time and other data on the bottom layer. There’s also a compact dot-matrix sub-display at the top that shows supplemental information such as the day, date, and barometric pressure trend.
All three models come equipped with aTriple Sensor setup (ABC sensors), including a digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer, along with Tough Solar charging.
Pricing & Availability
The new Pro Trek PRG-69-1 and PRG-69-4 are launching first in Japan and will go on sale later in February. Both are priced at ¥29,700 ($189.50). There's no word on the PRG-69B-1's pricing or availability yet, but it will most likely carry the same price tag. The new watches are expected to make their way to global markets, including Europe, sometime in March. As we previously reported, they are already up for preorder at French retailer David et Philly with a €200 price tag and aMarch 20 shipping date.
