Upgraded classic Casio G-Shock watch now available in Europe

Casio has released the G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 in Europe. This model was recently launched in Japan, alongside other upgraded versions of classic G-Shock watches, like the DW-5900-1 and the DW-5900BB-1.

At the Casio online store in countries like the Netherlands, Spain and Germany, you can now buy the Casio G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 watch for €159, the same price as the original GX-56BB-1. Casio ID members are offered free shipping and free returns. It is also worth noting that, at the time of writing, the listings indicate that this product is already nearly sold out.

Casio’s G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 is based on the G-Shock GX-56BB-1. This watch was released in July 2016, with an all-black design. While the new GX-56UBB-1 looks identical to its predecessor, there are a couple of upgrades. The 3221 module has been swapped out for a newer 3545 module. Plus, the electroluminescent (EL) backlight has been replaced with a more efficient LED backlight.

Features of the G-Shock GX-56 series model include support for 31 time zones, within 15 second monthly accuracy and a choice of 12 or 24 hour time formats. The black background digital display also shows date information. Plus, there are tools like a stopwatch, an alarm, hourly time signals and a timer. On top of this, the resin watch is solar powered, with 20 bar waterproofing. It is unclear whether or when the Casio G-Shock GX56UBB-1 could arrive in the US.
