Deal | Huge 98-inch Hisense QD5 4K 144 Hz TV drops below $900 on Best Buy

Make no mistake - the Hisense QD5 is far, far from the best TV one could find in terms of overall performance. However, the massive 98-inch TV is now available at an all-time low price of just $899 on Best Buy, making it a decent choice for budget-conscious folks who care about size more than anything else.
Massive, cheap 98-inch TV with poor performance despite excellent color accuracy
The 98-inch Hisense QD5 TV does have a few strong points, however. For starters, the 98-inch screen size at its current price point is without a doubt a lucrative offer. The color reproduction is decent, with good color volume and shockingly excellent color accuracy post calibration, at least in SDR mode, as pointed out by RTINGS' comprehensive review of the TV.
HDR performance is simply awful, since there is no local dimming feature whatsoever. Brightness performance is decent considering the price point, although the TV will give its viewers a tough time in very bright rooms. Dark rooms are also a no go, caused by the poor contrast ratio which makes blacks look gray. With controlled lighting conditions, compounded by good color reproduction, the panel is actually quite pleasant for SDR viewing.

For such a large TV, viewing angles will unsurprisingly play a crucial role, and the Hisense QD5 shines in this regard. Gamers will also find the 144 Hz peak refresh rate quite promising, although the TV's gaming prospects are ruined by its horrible response times. Input options include dual HDMI 2.1, and dual HDMI 2.0 ports. In order to get the full 144 Hz refresh rate, customers will have to use either of the two HMDI 2.1 ports.
All told, it is clear that the Hisense QD5 fails in most aspects when it comes to picture quality. However, there is no denying that the panel is very color accurate and is simply massive with good viewing angles, making it alright for folks with a requirement for an extremely large TV under $1,000. Other buyers with no such requirement will likely be far better served by something like the LG B5, currently available for just under $1,000 on Amazon.
