Casio's "Dragon-Eye" inspired Pro Trek watch confirmed for release outside Japan

When Casio announced the Pro Trek PRW-61D-2 earlier this May, the launch info was limited to Japan only - we had no idea whether the watch will see international stores at some point. That door is now officially open. The PRW-61D-2 has appeared on Casio's International website with a "New | 05/2026" label and an active Store Locator button, which essentially confirms the watch is heading to markets outside Japan.
For those unfamiliar with the watch, the PRW-61D-2 sits at the higher end of the Pro Trek lineup and has a somewhat cool story behind it, especially more than most releases in the range. Its dial design is inspired by the "Dragon Eye", which is a seasonal natural phenomenon near Japan's Mount Hachimantai, where melting snow on Kagami-numa Pond creates a circular pattern resembling a giant eye reflecting the sky. Casio uses this on the white textured dial, meant to resemble melting snow, paired alongside a blue ion-plated bezel that references the surrounding ring of water.
Underneath the design, the feature set is standard Pro Trek upper-tier: Triple Sensor covering altimeter, barometer, digital compass, and thermometer; Tough Solar charging; and Multi Band 6 radio timekeeping. The case measures 51 × 47.4 × 14.7 mm and weighs 62 g. It uses a bio-based resin case and a CNF-reinforced rubber band - Casio calls it the Dura Soft band - which should offer more rigidity than standard resin straps. The crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating, and the crown is screw-lock for improved water sealing, rated to 100 meters.
Pricing has not been officially stated for international markets, but based on the Japanese retail price of ¥79,200, buyers outside Japan should expect the watch to land around $500 when it becomes available through regional retailers.
