Casio has unveiled two new rugged G-Shock watches in the US. The new G-Shock GA010CE-2A and GD010CE-5 are being positioned as eco-friendly offerings and feature cloth bands made out of 100% recycled materials.
As Casio explains, the bands are made from a blend of Cordura's nylon fabric—repurposed from post-industrial waste—and recycled PET plastic fiber derived from discarded bottles and packaging. These bands are then dyed using Food Textile's natural dyes, with the GA-010CE-2A featuring hues from red turnip extracts and the GD-010CE-5 from echinacea extracts. These watches first launched in Japan back in January, but are only now making their way to US shores. Except for the eco-friendly materials, they’re identical to the GA010-1A1 and GD010-1A1 watches that arrived in the US earlier this month.
The GA010CE-2A is a hybrid analog-digital watch while the GD010CE-5 is a fully digital watch with an LCD. Both watches are built with bio-based resin for the case and feature a carbon core guard structure for added strength. They also share all the trademark G-Shock features, including shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, a 10-year battery life, and a Super Illuminator LED light for readability in low-light conditions. Other extras include world time covering 48 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a hand shift feature (GA010CE-2A), countdown timer, five daily alarms, and a full auto-calendar (to year 2099).
The G-Shock GA010CE-2A is priced at $140 while the GD010CE-5 will set you back $120. Both models are now up for sale in the US and can be purchased directly from Casio’s website.
