Casio has added two new models to its lineup with the MTPM305MC-8AV and MTPM305MC-1AV, now available in the US. These two new square-cased analog watches have a sleek stainless-steel build, multi-dial layout, and a moon phase complication.
Both models share a 44.5mm x 34mm case with a slim 9.4mm thickness, which gives them a balanced wrist presence without being overly bulky. They come equipped with a stainless-steel mesh band with an adjustable clasp. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters, making them suitable for daily wear, but definitely not ideal for extensive water exposure.
The standout feature here is easily the moon phase sub-dial - a feature usually found in more premium watches. Accompanied by two additional sub-dials displaying the date and day, this setup gives the watch a somewhat dynamic appearance. The mineral glass crystal protects the dial, while a quartz movement takes care of accurate timekeeping with a claimed accuracy of ±20 seconds per month. Battery life is rated at three years on a standard SR621SW cell.
As for the color options, the MTPM305MC-8AV sports a gray dial with silver accents, while the MTPM305MC-1AV sports a slightly darker aesthetic with a matching monochrome look. The watches retail for $120, which is an affordable price point for what's on the table.
From the company's releases this year so far, Casio seems to be heavily experimenting with design, and these models feel like a fresh take on its usually sportier offerings. While they might not be groundbreaking, they offer a pretty accessible entry point into moon phase watches without stretching the budget.
