Brawl Stars Season 50 is live with free Brawler Starr Nova and boss event

Brawl Stars Season 50 is live. The Starr Patrol season launched on May 7 and runs until June 4, bringing a space anime theme, a new boss battle event, a new Brawler arriving later this month, and the first major LAN event of the year in Berlin next week. The season follows the My Hero Academia collab, which closed the same day, and builds on the game's strongest revenue run in years.
The headline addition is Starr Nova, a Mythic Assassin who plays a cosplayer so committed to her anime character that she solves every problem with a sword. She is the 103rd Brawler in the game and is free to unlock for active players. Her main attack, Nova Hair Go, fires two projectiles. Her Super, Nova Crystal Transform, dashes her forward and shifts her into an enhanced form where her attack pattern changes and she converts dealt damage back into health for seven seconds. Her two gadgets give teammates anti-gravity movement in a fixed area or an energy ball that damages enemies and heals allies simultaneously. Starr Nova releases on May 24.
The Starr Nova event and how to get her free
Starr Nova unlocks through the Starr Nova Event rather than a paid purchase. Crystals spawn during Featured Game Modes and randomly selected Trophy Modes throughout the season. Collecting a crystal transforms the player into one of five Starr Girl versions of existing Brawlers: Starr Nova, Spike, Bea, Juju, and Amber. These transformed forms run custom kits and are significantly stronger than their base versions.
Daily match wins and seasonal quests reward Nova Drops, which serve two purposes. Opening them upgrades the Starr Girls from Power Level 11 up to Power Level 30, which in turn deals damage to the season boss Void Master Finx on the event screen. Accumulating enough damage unlocks Void Master Finx as a free skin. Free-to-play players who complete their daily wins throughout the 28-day season can earn up to 125 Nova Drops, enough to reach Starr Nova and the boss skin without spending anything.
What else is in Season 50
The Brawl Pass for Season 50 centres on two skin collections: Starr Patrol Spike and Void Colette, each with multiple chroma variants and exclusive cosmetics. The season also introduces Keys and the new Vault system, which lets players use four types of Keys to unlock specific cosmetics from a curated pool that includes skins from previous Brawl Pass seasons. Premium Plus is priced at $12.99 for the season. The season also includes an Adidas collaboration adding Super Ball mode, a supercharged version of Brawl Ball with charged shots and a goalkeeper mechanic, alongside an Adidas Arena environment and the Adidas Super Starr Cup event.
Brawl Cup 2026 heads to Berlin from May 15 to 17, the first major LAN event of the year under the BLAST partnership that Supercell announced in December 2025. The event carries a share of the season's $2 million total prize pool and features exclusive viewer drops for anyone who watches the official livestream on Twitch or YouTube. Bolt, the 104th Brawler, follows on June 19 to close out the season.
Brawl Stars is free to play on iOS and Android. Notebookcheck covered the game's first anime collaboration earlier this season, which brought five My Hero Academia skins and a free character skin through a nine-win challenge that closed on May 7.
