BenQ has announced the LH830ST Short-Throw Laser House Mapping Projector. This model is designed to throw images onto the outside of your home; you could use it to decorate your house for holidays like Halloween or Christmas. Plus, the company indicates that it could also be used in commercial settings like a theme park or a museum.
The LH830ST projector has a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 px) resolution with up to 120 Hz. According to the product listing, it has a native 16:9 aspect ratio, a 3,000,000:1 FOFO contrast ratio and 93% coverage of the Rec. 709 color space. You can use the model to throw images from 70 to 300 inches (~178 to 762 cm) wide with a 0.496 throw ratio. BenQ suggests that it is suitable for a range of house heights thanks to the 116% projection offset, reducing the need to make tilt or keystone adjustments. However, there are tools like 2D and automatic vertical keystone correction and Corner Fit.
BenQ’s LH830ST projector has a laser light source, producing up to 4,000 ANSI lumens of brightness. This is said to run for up to 30,000 hours in Eco Mode. Other features include an integrated 15W speaker and ports like HDMI, LAN, USB and RS-212. Plus, the company suggests that it will receive OTA updates over Wi-Fi in the future. This model measures 279 x 121 x 229 mm (~11.0 x 4.8 x 9.0 inches) and weighs 3.4 kg (~7.5 lbs). It shares many of its features with the recently launched LK830ST, a 4K simulation projector.
The BenQ LH830ST Short-Throw Laser House Mapping Projector will be officially released in September for €1,899. However, this model is already available in the UK via retailer AV Parts Master for £2,004, and in other European countries via retailer Golfroom for €1,584. While advertised in the US, the pricing for this market has yet to be revealed.
