Last week, Asus released its first AMD Strix Halo-powered gaming laptop across multiple markets. Sold as the TUF Gaming A14 (FA401EA), the laptop is currently the only device around featuring AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APU. While a lower-tier option compared with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 inside the ROG Flow Z13 (curr. $2,169 on Amazon), this new APU should deliver similar graphics performance thanks to an identical Radeon 8060S iGPU.
Now, Asus has confirmed US pricing, too. Unfortunately, a precise release date remains a mystery for now. it looks unlikely that Asus will offer the laptop's optional 64 GB RAM variant to US customers. Instead, Asus only lists its 32 GB RAM variant on its US webshop, which it has priced at $1,799 with 1 TB of storage. Moreover, the FA401EA technical specifications on its US website do not mention the 64 GB model it already sells across China, Japan and Europe.
In practice, the 32 GB RAM variant will not impact CPU performance. However, it prevents the TUF Gaming A14 FA401EA from allocating more than 24 GB VRAM, which can prove helpful if a variety of tasks. By contrast, Asus' 64 GB model can assign up to 48 GB VRAM to its Radeon 8060S iGPU while retaining 16 GB RAM for its Ryzen AI Max+ 392 processor.
