At the end of the day the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501JW is one of the nicest premium Windows notebooks you’ll find in stores this year … but it isn’t perfect and we think it’s fair to look for perfection when you’re paying more than $1500 for a laptop. When other premium 15-inch systems like the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro and the MSI PE60 Prestige offer similar performance for between $500 and $700 less we start to have trouble justifying the higher price of the ZenBook Pro even if this notebook has a nicer screen and more durable build quality. If 4K resolution and a premium fit and finish are things you must have in a 15-inch notebook then the UX501JW is an excellent choice.

The Ultimate ZenBook? Sporting nearly identical specifications to the recently-reviewed G501JW, the UX501JW—with a 4K LCD display, discrete graphics, and quad-core CPU—targets an audience who may in fact be a better fit for its choices. Is this truly the ultimate ZenBook?

From its breathtaking 4K display to its wonderful sound, the $1,499 Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 pairs premium features with strong performance that bests similarly priced machines such as the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. While I wish the UX501's battery lasted longer and its keyboard and trackpad were arranged differently, overall this notebook will more than deliver for creatives looking for an excellent display, with the power to drive it.

The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 wants to beat the pants off the 15" Retina MacBook Pro and send the likes of the Razer Blade and MSI GS60 running away from its low price tag. It partially succeeds: you get a good-looking, solidly built machine with quad core chops and very respectable graphics.

The ASUS ZenBook UX501 is built with excellence with great choice of materials, design language and above everything else – it’s thin and light. Despite it’s fragile looks, the notebook is sturdy and houses really powerful components suitable for gaming. In addition, the touchpad and keyboard are just flawless without any issues at all. Though, the material used for the making of the interior could have been aluminum as well, because other high-end notebooks like the MacBook Pro have the desired premium feel of the all-aluminum body. At least this doesn’t affect the overall sturdiness of the chassis.

Asus' flagship ZenBook Pro UX501 has the latest Intel and Nvidia technology, as well as an SSD, a Full HD matte display and a Bang & Olufsen audio system. The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 is an excellent 15" laptop, being both multifunctional and well-built. There are a few weak areas: the less-than-perfect screen calibration and the fairly short battery life—these two points seriously bring down its value-for-money.

Overall, there's a whole lot to like about the Asus ZenBook Pro UX501. It offers a beautiful 3,840x2,160 touch display with extra-wide viewing angles. What's more, the system's case looks as good as its screen. And it's a remarkable bargain at $1,499, when you consider the much higher prices of the MacBook Pro and XPS 15—or, for that matter, the Razer Blade, with which the UX501 almost kept pace in our benchmarks despite the Blade's higher price and gamer orientation.

If physical aesthetics and a 4K screen are your primary goals, and you're looking to keep costs down, the Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 is an excellent bet. With a large SSD, this model can work well for content creators and consumers alike. But, beware the battery life: It's enough to get you through a few hours, but not enough for a laptop you're taking out for a whole day – or relying on at a conference, where outlets may be few and far between. This model's heavy weight is another detriment when it comes to portability.

Asus UX501JW-CN209H
Beautiful, slim and professional looking; the Asus UX501JW-CN209H is a piece of art packed into a laptop. The first eye-catching feature is the elegantly designed spun-metal top cover that oozes class. The entire chassis is solid with smooth hinges and a brushed-metal finish and will surely endure the test of time. Depending on the selected option, the 15.6 inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio is either a Full HD, IPS UHD or IPS FHD panel. Users can adjust the device pricing based on their needs. Overall whichever device you choose you will not make a mistake. Weather you are a fan of the sleek light Zen design, or prefer the more aggressive black and red style of the G501, both devices offer great design, premium feel and sturdy build, thanks to the great materials used. The two also have great performance for both serious work and gaming and the cooling systems are good enough to take the heat off during the heavy work process or some hard battle on the virtual battlefield. If you want touchscreen capabilities and a slightly better sound quality you should go for the ZenBook Pro, while if you want to be sure you will be able to play the upcoming AAA game titles with no problem or you do video editing and require some extra video memory – the Republic of Gamers notebook is your choice.

A new perspective. It is not long since we had the US model of the Asus UX501JW in our hands and we were impressed by the overall concept including the 4K display. Now, the ZenBook is available in Germany with a matte display. Unfortunately, not everything has turned out for the better.
Asus ZenBook Pro UX501-FJ221H
The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 offers high-end specifications usually found in more expensive laptops. The 15.6 inch QHD display with a resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels provides pin sharp, fine details in photos and videos to the tiniest text making it superb for office and multimedia work. However, there is no anti-glare treatment so reflections can be a problem even when it is at full brightness. Despite this the amazing resolution makes photo or video editing so much easier and even when web browsing, the smallest text is easily visible. Viewing angles are also very good, which makes watching movies in a group more enjoyable thanks to a wider sweet spot. There's a rubber lining along the edge of display, which seals off the keyboard area when the lid is closed. The hinge is sturdy and hides the exhaust vents, so, the hot air doesn't make it uncomfortable to use on the lap. An Intel i74720HQ quad core CPU with 16 GB of RAM provides desktop level performance. A 512 GB SSD with a transfer rate of 1400 MB/s ensures maximum responsiveness. Data transfers are not only fast, but also reliable and totally silent. The Zenbook Pro utilizes the next generation dual band 802.11ac WiFi with speeds of up to 867Mbits/s, which is three times as fast as the previous generation 802.11n. This model comes with a SD card reader, an HD web camera, Bluetooth 4.0, 3x USB 3.0 ports, 2 built-in speakers, and an array microphone.Specifications

The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 turns out to be one of the better premium laptops in the market. It offers high-end specifications usually found in more expensive laptops, which makes it great value. The 4K display is stunning and is superb for office and multimedia work. The SSD also delivers some of the fastest read-write speeds we've come across. Then, there's the aluminium build, powerful internals and decent battery life on top of all of that. Having a 4K resolution on such a small screen results in a few niggles. Not all applications adhere to Window's scaling guidelines so you might be forced to use apps at 100-percent resolution, where menus and text can get unreadably small. The lower bezel of the display also tends to get very hot, even without gaming. This isn't something you'll notice with regular use but we hope it doesn't have an adverse effect in the long run. Finally, the screen is quite reflective which makes it difficult to use under sunlight or even indoors, with artificial lighting behind you. Even maxing out the brightness level doesn't fix this.

It's likely the price that will determine the success of the ZenBook Pro. If it can undercut its quad-core rivals, such as the Dell XPS 15, it stands a decent chance. Its physical design and keyboard may not be perfect, but for the right price, folk will be willing to accept some compromises.

The ASUS ZenBook UX550VE is a no-brainer if you are looking for an affordable Dell XPS 15 or Apple MacBook Pro 15 alternative but obviously, you will have to deal with some setbacks along the way like insufficient cooling capabilities, always running cooling fans and a bit flexible interior. In addition, you are stuck with only one M.2 SSD and no RAM chip slots – you have to deal only with the soldered memory. This is also true for the MacBook Pro 15 but we expected more from ASUS, come on…

The ZenBook Pro UX550VE is certainly an interesting device and lived-up to the hype it created to some degree. If users can look past ASUS’ mistake on the cooling system and the port positioning then they would be greeted by an amazing laptop with an elegant design, powerful internals, immersive speakers, rock-solid build, stellar battery life, beautiful display, and excellent keyboard. Truth be told, the pros of the device actually outweigh its cons. The biggest problem consumers will face, however, is the notebook’s price, which starts at a staggering Php 104,995. Either way, ASUS did a good job in making the ZenBook Pro UX550VE a powerful yet slim device.

Either way, ASUS did a good job in making the ZenBook Pro UX550VE a powerful yet slim device.

Asus is starting off CES 2021 with a bang by improving upon its dual-screen 14-inch subnotebook with brighter displays, new hinges, and faster performance. It mostly works if you can deal with some inherent limitations.

Simply put, the Asus Zenbook Duo 2024 is a game-changer for laptops in general. It gets dual 14-inch OLED touch displays, good speakers, amazing battery life, and is powerful for most productivity and creative tasks. If you're a journalist, a writer, engineer, programmer, researcher, or an artist, then this is an excellent tool for you. Asus also claims that it is quite durable, but this is something we'll have to test in the long run. For now, if you're looking at a portable productivity powerhouse that's compact and light enough to be carried anywhere, then look no further. I'm going to have trouble using a regular laptop after my time with the Asus Zenbook Duo 2024, it's that good.

On most of the usual measurements and metrics the Asus ZenBook UX482 is a very good laptop. It has a very good screen, performance is solid and battery life is excellent. It also manages to squeeze in roughly the same amount of total screen space as a 17in laptop into a 14in chassis, which is a feat in itself. The main question to ask yourself before you commit to buying one is: are you willing to compromise on the usability of the keyboard and the touchpad in order to gain that extra space? While the answer to this question for some of you will be yes – perhaps you’re sick and tired of the same old laptop design and you’re aching to try something new – most, I suspect, will be conservative and spend their £1,500 more cautiously. There’s nothing else quite like the Asus ZenBook Duo UX482 (apart from other ZenBook Duos) but that will ensure it remains of limited appeal to a niche audience.

The Asus ZenBook Duo keeps up with the times and continues to be more than a gimmick thanks to quality-of-life improvements and a jump to 11th Gen Intel chips. But you need to decide what’s more important to you: a second screen or a better typing/touchpad experience?

Priced at Rs 1,29,990, the Asus ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482) is a solid laptop for content creators but not so good if your work involves working on multiple PCs simultaneously – writing and editing text. That said, the laptop makes a great supplementary unit for portable use. It also makes a good buy for budding content creators with not so heavy daily work flow. For professionals, the laptop’s slightly expensive variant with discrete graphic card makes a better proposition – if not perfect – for everyday use.

The new Asus ZenBook Duo is a powerful laptop with a curious selling point. The second screen might be initially baffling, but already there are some good practical applications for this besides Spotify, and there’s a degree of customisation. How much you get out of this depends greatly on your willingness to experiment with a new(ish) and interesting form. While you’ll be able to comfortably edit photos and video here (with the MX450 version), serious creatives will want to turn their attention to the larger, more powerful ZenBook Duo Pros.

Then again, you won’t be able to upgrade your memory, and the best thing you can do is to get a configuration with at least 16GB of RAM. Despite the significance of the lack of upgrades in this department, we feel like the biggest issue here is the keyboard and touchpad user experience. Does the increased productivity of having a secondary display justify the reduced comfort of using the laptop in general? You decide. Tell us in the comments if you are fine with this keyboard placement, or you prefer a traditional laptop without a second display.

The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 continues to redefine what a laptop is and what it looks like, for the better. And we're a bit shocked that the ZenBook Duo is priced at $200 less than a similarly configured XPS 13 ($1,499), which is similar in speed and endurance. If only it had a little more room for your wrists, and was easier to use in your lap. For longer battery life, and faster performance, you should check out the MacBook Air M1, which costs $50 less when similarly spec'd (with the $1,249 configuration). But for those who want a lot of screen in a single laptop, the Asus ZenBook Duo 14 is definitely worth consideration.

The ZenBook Duo 14 starts at Rs 99,990 for the Core i5 model, but the i7 variant with MX450 GPU will set interested folks back by Rs 1,34,990. It goes without saying that ASUS’ ZenBook Duo lineup comprises the most innovative laptops launched in recent years and content creators will undoubtedly benefit from the ScreenPad+’ added functionality. That being said, the laptop’s design leaves much to be desired and the ZenBook Duo 14 isn’t the most ergonomic machine out there. Consequently, provided you can live with the unit’s awkwardly positioned keyboard and trackpad, the ZenBook Duo 14 will not disappoint you. Else, there are plenty of power-packed options in the segment with conventional designs that will perform just as good, if not better.

When I started using Asus’ ZenBook Duo 14 a few days back, I was under the impression that I would struggle to adapt to a new form factor. Although I did initially struggle, the transaction has been smooth so far. The idea of a dual-screen actually makes sense, though there have been few compromises made to the design which could have been avoided. That said, the ZenBook Duo marks a big change in the hardware and design of a traditional laptop.

Asus ZenBook Duo 14 UX482 is one seriously powerful laptop considering the audience it is aimed at. And one could feel the power while working on apps. Like we said before, Asus has done a pretty good job in refining the design and looks while stuffing more power on the inside. The thermal handling is on point and the ScreenPad+ features are more than what you may use. And all this while offering a fairly decent battery backup is definitely no joke here. But not all laptops are perfect and the ZenBook UX482 has its own share of drawbacks too.

The ZenBook Duo 14 (2021) is expensive, but that's the price you pay for a dual-screen notebook that is as powerfully specced as this is. Most important, however, is whether or not the multitasking capabilities of the notebook are a good fit for the work you plan to do. If not, look at some of the Asus' single displayed Zen-branded notebooks.

ASUS has almost perfected the formula of the dual-screen laptop in the ZenBook Duo 14 UX482E as we found in our review, offering all the benefits of a dual-screen workstation without the added bulk of the previous generation. There are a few quirks you have to get used to though, and you’d best buy a Bluetooth mouse to use with it for sanity’s sake. Aside from that, the ZenBook Duo 14 UX482E fulfills its promise of being the laptop of tomorrow.

The ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 UX482E sports a lot of improvements across the board, including reduced overall weight, as well as better integration of the second screen in common apps and programs as well as better internals overall. We’ll have to see if the battery life and the performance in real-world scenarios make the laptop worth it, but right now we’re liking what we’re seeing.

The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 scores highly in a lot of key departments but it is obviously all about that second screen – if you're going to find that display useful then it's a great option for your next laptop, otherwise you'll probably want to look at something else.

The second display isn’t always perfect, but having a functional small second monitor with your laptop at all times is a highly compelling proposition, works as intended most of the time, and is hard not to appreciate. We think the MacBook Pro and XPS 13 have the edge if you are looking for sheer performance for money, but if this two-screen design appeals to you, it’s well worth its reasonable price. The possible productivity advantage—and the cool factor—can't be measured in mere benchmarks.

What's impressive about the ZenBook Duo UX482 is how it manages to cram two displays and high-end specifications (for an ultraportable notebook, at least) into a body that's still really quite portable. ASUS hasn't shared availability or pricing details yet. But seeing that the last ZenBook Duo had a launch price of S$2,198, we fully expect this new model to cost more than that.

The Asus ZenBook Duo is a great all-round Ultrabook, but the ScreenPad arguably adds more issues than benefits. While the second touchscreen is great for multitasking with apps such as Slack, Spotify and Premiere Pro, it also pushes the keyboard down to a more awkward position, limiting the appeal of this design.

The ZenBook Duo 14 UX482 is not your regular 14-inch laptop. The main selling point is the fact that it comes with two screens, and that's paired with an alright hardware implementation of the Intel Tiger Lake platform that performs well and runs cooly, as well as long battery life and good connectivity. At the same time, there are some important trade-offs with this form-factor, which will impact your experience with the laptop. We'll get in-depth in the detailed review down below.

Despite a few shortcomings, I still found the ASUS ZenBook Duo UX482 still offers some really great specs and can certainly handle your mostly anything you try to do and complete, however if your after something that can handle some games or be a gaming and work laptop, you might want to looks elsewhere.

The UX482 improves on its predecessor in every way. The ScreenPad is more useful, the machine is slimmer while retaining great build quality and the CPU is faster. Elsewhere, the UX482 is more mixed. The touch displays offer great quality and versatility, battery life is impressive, and the Asus is cheaper than its rivals, but the second screen hinders comfort, and more performance can be found elsewhere. If you’re going to make ample use of that second screen, then those compromises are worth it – but if the ScreenPad isn’t a vital addition to your workflow then conventional laptops will deliver a more comfortable experience.

The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 UX482E is the company's latest dual-screen laptop. To Asus' credit, it's worked hard to ensure that the second screen is more than a mere curio, and it's now more useful and customizable than ever. New 11th-gen Intel processors, plenty of RAM and a sleek design make this a brilliant premium laptop, but it won't be for everyone.

ASUS's ZenBook Duo isn't perfect, but it's surprisingly compelling and a notable upgrade over last year's model. It's no wonder why it won our Best of CES 2021 award for PCs: the Duo is genuinely innovative in a time when many ultraportables are starting to feel stale. Dual-screen notebooks aren't for everyone just yet, but ASUS has made a stronger case for why you would want one.

What I like most about the ZenBook Duo 14 is that you really can't tell from the outside of the laptop what you'll see when you lift the lid. Despite opening and closing it countless times at this point, I still get a kick out of seeing its secondary 12.6-inch touchscreen rise from above the keyboard to meet the bottom of the main 14-inch display. One screen flows into the next and, with the help of Asus' software, that slim display becomes more useful than you might think (and certainly more useful than Apple's Touch Bar). There are a few compromises that come with the design, but they might just be worth it.

It was 2019 when I bought my first dual-screen laptop. The ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo was focused on creative professionals and so entranced my multitasking soul that I refused to hand it over to Daniel Rubino for the MrMobile/Windows Central collab review we'd planned. In 2020, ASUS improved its two-screen approach and brought it over to the gaming world with the Zephyrus Duo 15, an absolute monster that made it possible for me to play everything from Star Wars Squadrons to Cyberpunk 2077. And for 2021, ASUS is spreading those improvements all across its new laptop lineup – including the ZenBook Duo 14 (2021), a more affordable double display notebook for those of us who like to “stay Mobile.” Join me for the ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 Review, 2021 Edition – and then check out David Cogen's Real World Test featuring the very same ZenBook Duo 14, at TheUnlockr!

What is clear without spending more time is that the build feels high quality, comes off as highly advanced, and has the features I’d want from this type of laptop. The jury is out on performance (though it should be solid based on the components) and battery life for now, but we’ll have those for you in the full review. What's here is very promising, so check back soon.

All in all, Asus seems to have refined the design of its original ZenBook Duo series, and the new model should be more practical for everyday use. Information about pricing and availability in India isn't known yet. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for news of when it launches in India.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4720HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.6 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.6 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.
Intel Kaby Lake:
i7-7700HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture. Besides four CPU cores (including Hyper Threading), the chips also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU and is manufactured in an improved 14 nm process.
i5-7300HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture running at 2.5 - 3.5 GHz without Hyper Threading (which is supported by the faster i7 CPUs). The chip also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU clocked at 350 - 1000 MHz and is manufactured in a 14 nm process (improved compared to Skylake).
Intel Coffee Lake:
i7-8750H: On Coffee Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.2 - 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores, 3.9 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++).
Intel Tiger Lake:
i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
