Recommending a laptop or PC is tough because it ultimately comes down to budget. It’s easy to suggest you spend an extra amount of money to future-proof against software advances and increasingly demanding games. In practice, money only stretches so far and you eventually reach a point of diminishing returns. Sure, you could get a more powerful desktop PC for the same amount of money. However, you need to weigh up the importance of portability, considering a similar-spec laptop always costs more than its desktop counterpart. When compared to other laptops in its own price bracket, and more expensive devices, the Asus TUF A16 stands up as a capable gaming machine. It’s priced competitively among similarly-specced devices, making it a worthwhile consideration for anyone wanting a gaming laptop without completely emptying the wallet.

The A16 makes an excellent case against buying more expensive laptops, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. Despite being affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. However, the biggest factor that sets it apart from rivals is its incredible battery life. It’s extremely rare to see to see a gaming laptop last so long on a single charge. In my book, that makes the A16 a truly outstanding gaming laptop. It’s an excellent affordable option.

The A16 (which is currently $1,099, USD at Best Buy) makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding.
