Otherwise, Asus' own ROG Zephyrus G-series and ROG Strix Scar lineup will offer you plenty of power while saving you a lot of money. In case you're looking elsewhere, the pricey Razer Blade 17 offers a combo of Core i9 and GeForce RTX 3080Ti for a cool $4,000. If you seek a similar configuration and would like to save money, too, you should check out the Alienware m17 R5, MSI Stealth GS77, and the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE.

Having said that, if you want the best performance and money isn’t your main concern, I would strongly recommend purchasing this machine over rival brands. There are now just a handful of items on the market, outside the Zephyrus Duo 16, that are also outfitted with the 3080 Ti graphics card. However, even the most affordable one starts at $4,999 and does not have a secondary display like Duo 16.

Is the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16’s dual-screen setup a gimmick? Absolutely not. Maximising its useability does take a little while but, even after a few days with it, I could clearly see the benefits, especially as the design hasn’t resulted in too many compromises. The lack of any hand rest space below the keyboard is a bind if you regularly use your laptop away from a desk but, used on a desk, the layout is really little different from using a regular desktop keyboard. Moreover, the quality of those two displays, especially the trick 2K 240Hz, 4K 120Hz hybrid main screen, makes this machine an easy recommendation. The big issue is that very high price.

My unit which has the mini LED display, top-of-the-line AMD silicone and NVIDIA’s best mobile GPU, will set you back a staggering Rs 3,61,990. Now you should definitely ask yourself if the ScreenPad Plus has some utility for your work. There is an undeniable air of superiority around the Zephyrus Duo 16 whether it is the sound system or crispness of the display or just the overall build of the laptop. If these aspects, along with the laptop’s breakthrough performance appeal to you and you can stomach the price, the Zephyrus Duo 16 could well be for you.

I had the pleasure of checking out the original Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo back when it originally launched (in a smaller 15-inch configuration) in 2020. At the time, Asus proudly declared it the world’s first dual-screen gaming laptop - a slightly loaded statement, since the manufacturer’s own Zenbook Pro Duo was already offering solid gaming performance in a twin-screen laptop. Still, for all the novelty the original Zephyrus Duo offered, it didn’t really impress me. The keyboard and trackpad were cramped together beneath the secondary screen, which felt poorly implemented at best. Gaming performance was great, sure, but poor speakers, an underdeveloped design, and noisy-ass fans all contributed to a less-than-stellar overall experience - a far cry from the best laptops. Fast-forward two years, though, and the Zephyrus Duo is back with a vengeance. Well, perhaps not vengeance exactly, but a bigger screen, better audio, and new internal components all mean that the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is a big brother to the original laptop that means business.

Look, with a base price of $2,500 that quickly climbs above $3K when well equipped, it's going to be tough to fit the ROG Duo 16 in most people's budget. On top of that, it's big, heavy and short on battery life. But for the kind of people who constantly find themselves seeking more screen space — especially when out and about — ASUS' innovative setup gives you more usable display area in less space than practically any other laptop maker. And while its keyboard and touchpad are cramped, combining big performance with a truly unique design feels like we're seeing an evolution of the desktop replacement notebook happen in front of our eyes. That means this thing will be a rather niche device, but if you're looking for something to cure your dual-screen FOMO, ASUS's ROG Duo 16 does it better than anything else on the market.

The Zephryus Duo 16, like its smaller predecessors, is an impressive machine for a rare few shoppers. Even setting aside price, the dual-screen design is useful and interesting, but not essential. Add in the enormous price tag, and it’s a machine only for early adopters and enthusiasts who want to have the latest, most powerful gadget. But no denying it: It is very, very cool. From the elegant design to the sharp twin displays to the leading-edge-powerful components, this is a classy laptop that will play your games at the highest settings while also turning every head in its viewing radius. It’s the same idea as the Duo 15, just better executed and more powerful. You can find better raw-speed values for high-end gaming laptops, of course. But if you have an unlimited budget and this seems like a system you must have, it delivers.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2022) is a remarkable gaming laptop that may be held back by its more striking feature, the secondary display. It seems to offer head-turning appeal and “why on earth would I want that?” in almost equal measure. After a couple of weeks, it has won me over, but the price point makes it tough to convince people to take the plunge on a new form factor. The good news is that with or without that secondary display, the Duo 16 is an outstanding gaming laptop with performance and graphics that match almost any other laptop on the market. And the mini LED display makes gaming, content creation and watching videos a pleasure. Come for the amazing gaming laptop and stay for its unique second screen that ultimately won me over.
