Maximising its useability does take a little while but, even after a few days with it, I could clearly see the benefits, especially as the design hasn’t resulted in too many compromises. The lack of any hand rest space below the keyboard is a bind if you regularly use your laptop away from a desk but, used on a desk, the layout is really little different from using a regular desktop keyboard. I had the pleasure of checking out the original Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo back when it originally launched (in a smaller 15-inch configuration) in 2020. At the time, Asus proudly declared it the world’s first dual-screen gaming laptop - a slightly loaded statement, since the manufacturer’s own Zenbook Pro Duo was already offering solid gaming performance in a twin-screen laptop. The comfort under load depends on your work. In Silent mode, the two fans aren’t spinning until the CPU reaches a certain temperature. If you need the full power of the laptop, the Turbo mode is the way to go but the fans will punish your ears with 5000 RPM. In this preset, they are audible even in idle. On the other hand, the keyboard and the touchpad feel just a bit warm even when the CPU or the GPU are max stressed. Of course, the notebook isn’t perfect. We would like to see faster RAM and SSD considering the high price of this machine. Because of the dual-screen setup, the laptop is thick and heavy. The I/O features a lot of ports but it lacks a Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 connector. Last but not least, the battery life is short. Still, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650, 2023) offers two displays combined with perhaps the latest and greatest mobile tech on the market.

Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.

Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.

Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.

These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing.

R9 6900HX: Mobile Octa-Core APU using Zen 3+ cores clocked at 3.3 to 4.9 GHz and a RDNA2 graphics adapter with 12 CUs clocked at up to 2,400 MHz.
