The Apple iPhone 16 Pro differs only slightly from the iPhone 15 Pro on the outside, and the iPhone 17 Pro is not expected to be any different apart from a larger camera module. Next year's iPhone 18 Pro is expected to have a smaller punch-hole, as the Face ID sensors will be concealed under the AMOLED panel. A report by Korean magazine ET News confirms earlier information from Bloomberg, according to which Apple is finally planning a more comprehensive redesign for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027.
First and foremost, the supposed iPhone 19 Pro will have a display with no bezels at all. To make this possible, the AMOLED panel and glass cover will be slightly rounded on all four sides, enabling a screen-to-body ratio of almost 100%. The selfie camera will also play a role here since it will be installed invisibly under the display for the first time on an iPhone, just as the rest of the Face ID module will be next year if the rumors prove correct.
Another exciting upgrade is the silicon battery with a cathode that uses no carbon at all. A silicon content of 100% would be a significant advance, as current silicon-carbon batteries in smartphones generally have a silicon content of less than 20%. A battery of this type would enable a higher energy density, which would allow for either significantly longer battery life or much thinner housing with comparable battery capacity.
