Apple may release a revamped version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. According to Digitimes, Apple will launch an iPad Pro 12.9 with a triple camera array similar to that found on the iPhone 11 Pro next month, though shipments won't peak until late April at the earliest. However, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt; there has been a lot of speculation as to the launch of the next iteration of the iPad Pro.

Despite earlier rumors pushing the 2020 iPad Pro release date into the fall, new whispers peg the launch of this year’s revamped iPad Pro at sometime in March.

This news comes from Digitimes. Citing “industry sources,” the publication claims that Apple will launch a new “12-inch iPad Pro model” in March. This new model will feature the same triple camera array as the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max in addition to a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.

While the new iPad Pro will begin shipping in March, Digitimes also estimates shipments will peak in late April as production is still slowly ramping up in China. The coronavirus outbreak in the country forced many production outlets in the region to shut down for an extended period during the Chinese New Year. Now that factories are back at work, production has started again, albeit slowly.

This rumor should be taken with a heavy grain of salt. Digitimes also made claims that Apple wouldn’t release the new iPad Pro model until the Fall of 2020 less than a week ago. However, that earlier rumor only refers to 5G models of the iPad Pro; it’s possible Apple will release 4G-capable iPad Pros with the triple camera array next month and save the 5G models for later in the year.

What do you think of the new iPad Pro model? Does a triple camera setup make sense on a tablet? Let us know in the comments.
