Apple increases subscription prices for Apple TV+ and the like up to 43%
Apple's Apple TV+ streaming service was previously offered for US$6.99 per month; as of now, the service costs US$9.99 per month - a price increase of 42.9%. Unlike some competitors, Apple does not offer an annual subscription that reduces the monthly average.
Since Apple offers comparatively little content compared to industry giants such as Disney+, Paramount+ or Amazon Prime, this new price hike seems a bit daring. At the same time, Apple has increased the price of Apple Arcade from US$4.99 to 6.99 per month, making the subscription 40% more expensive.
Apple Arcade allows users to download a selection of games for the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac at no additional cost. According to Apple's marketing, over 200 games are currently included in the subscription, a small selection of which can be found on Apple's website, and a complete overview can be found in the Arcade tab of the App Store. Library highlights include Bloonds TD6, Don't Starve, Goat Simulator and Monument Valley 2.
In addition to the two entertainment subscriptions, the prices of Apple One have also been increased. Individual subscription, which includes 50GB of iCloud storage, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and Apple Music, now costs US$19.95 per month, up from US$16.95. Compared to taking out all four subscriptions separately, Apple One saves customers US$9.01 per month. Family subscription prices have also increased by US$3 to US$25.95, and the Premier subscription now costs US$37.95 instead of the previous US$32.95.
