Apple has announced an update to the 24-inch iMac alongside new MacBook Pros, featuring the latest M3 chip unveiled during the same event along with Wi-Fi 6E.
The update seems to be purely internal, as the iMac retains its design from 2021 and offers the same color options as before. Those expecting larger screen sizes will have to hold their breath a little longer.
According to Apple's claims, the updated 24-inch iMac featuring the M3 chip is twice as fast as the one it replaces. This is intriguing, considering the fact that the M3 is about 35% faster than the M1 for CPU tasks and about 65% faster for GPU tasks. How exactly Apple arrived at the "2 times faster" value remains to be seen through independent testing.
The iMac's pricing has remained unchanged, starting at US$1,299 for the base model which comes with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of unified memory, 256GB SSD and two Thunderbolt ports.
