Apple Watch users can now reply to WhatsApp messages on the device thanks to WristChat
A new app called WristChat enables Apple Watch users to access WhatsApp through the device. With WristChat, you can read and respond to WhatsApp messages on the Apple Watch.
You can reply to WhatsApp messages using standard Apple watch input methods such as Scribble or Voice Dictation. WristChat also has a unique keyboard, WristBoard, designed for the Apple Watch. The WristBoard has many features such as swipe typing and autocorrect, plus it supports multiple languages.
In the WristChat app, you can see a message’s status and read receipts. The app has multiple customization features, such as controlling whether or not contacts’ profile pictures are visible and changing the color of your chat bubbles. You can also enable haptic feedback for ease of navigation in the app. To set up WristChat, you need to scan a QR code; it’s similar to setting up WhatsApp web.
The watchOS app was launched by developer Adam Foot earlier this month. The developer has already released an update to resolve issues, including a crash on launch problem and a bug that left users stuck on “Connecting”.
The app uses the WhatsApp Web API to show messages on the Apple Watch with a SwiftUI interface. You can download the WristChat app, which is compatible with any Apple Watch model, from the Apple Store for US$2.99.
