The Apple Watch might be one of the world's most recognizable wearables, and indeed arguably the one that started the whole smartwatch trend. However, it is now stagnating in terms of innovation as it heads into its 10th iteration, as Mark Gurman asserts.
The "Watch 11" (or "Ultra 3") might be so bereft of significant upgrades that it could benefit from a launch alongside a first-gen Apple Ring to distract from that fact, as the Bloomberg tech contributor now intimates.
The latest word on the latter maintains that it is not even in development at all, however. Gurman bemoans this apparent lack of initiative on Apple's part, holding forth that many users might prefer it over a Watch for potentially improved fit and comfort in their health and fitness tracking.
There are valid anti-Ring arguments from Apple's perspective out there too, though, one of the most compelling of which is that it could undercut the Watch series.
Then again, its pre-existing rival the Samsung Galaxy Ring still manages to command a health $399.99 price on Amazon.
In addition, an Apple version could possibly presage a long-overdue alternative to Face ID unlocking for a user's iPhone.
The Cupertino giant reportedly has different priorities nonetheless, a "tethered" version (or one that might need to stay connected to the user's Mac via a USB-C cable, with all the potential for limited freedom of movement and snagging implied) of the Vision Pro included.
