Apple Watch with glucose monitor and Apple Watch Ultra 3: Analyst reveals release schedule

For years, numerous rumors have claimed that Apple is developing blood pressure and blood sugar sensors for the Apple Watch, but according to a Bloomberg report, the introduction of these features has been delayed. Blood pressure monitoring could become available on the 2025 Apple Watch Series 11, though Apple is initially expected to offer high blood pressure warnings rather than specific readings. Glucose monitoring is expected to be delayed even further.

According to the latest information from analyst Jeff Pu of GF Securities in Hong Kong, the first Apple Watch with a blood glucose sensor is currently expected to launch in 2027. As always, such early rumors should be treated with caution. Even if Apple is currently aiming for a 2027 launch, the blood sugar sensor could be delayed again if the company encounters technical issues. In any case, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (from $779 on Amazon) is expected to receive a successor this year, after Apple did not release a new Ultra smartwatch last year.

According to rumors, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 could feature an integrated 5G modem and support for satellite communication. The flagship smartwatch might also receive an upgraded processor and some of the improvements that have been introduced with the Apple Watch Series 10, such as an OLED display with a wider viewing angle. This could improve readability when the Apple Watch Ultra is not pointing directly at the user’s face.
