The Gigabyte Aorus 17X is an absolute beast. When it isn't pumping out 60fps of ray-traced FHD graphics on its gorgeous display, it multitasks resource-intensive projects like a professional desktop. One of the most powerful gaming laptops we've tested, it's price-to-power ratio makes it an objectively great value - but only if you can stomach the initial price tag.

Gigabyte's impressive Aorus 17 line of gaming laptops distinguishes itself from a lot of competitors with the excellent mechanical keyboard it added to the year's models. That, plus its better-than-average performance and big, 17-inch 240Hz display make it a solid choice as a desktop replacement for the work-from-home, speed-minded gamer. But if you plan to shell out the big bucks -- over $3,000 -- for the higher-end configurations, you might find some of its limitations annoying given the expense.

We've yet to see a gaming laptop that perfectly balances performance, price and size, but the Gigabyte Aorus 17x gives it a good go. If you have plenty of money to spend and you want the best laptop specs in return, then it's one to put on your shortlist of options.

17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
3.75 kg:
Only a few laptops are in this weight class because the mobility is rather limited due to the high weight.
