The new AORUS Master 16 is a very good refinement of its predecessors. Perhaps its appearance, even despite the minimal “facelift”, no longer seems new, the main thing in this model is completely different. Buyers will definitely like the performance boost from the new chips, and the new OLED display will delight you with an excellent image. The only problem was the price, but in the current conditions this is not a problem only for this model, because all the flagships (and options close to them) are also increasing the cost of competitors. And if you find just such an amount to buy a new laptop, the AORUS Master 16 will be a good both a work tool and an entertainment center.

If you always play with headphones on, you can mitigate the Gigabyte’s biggest issue. But while the Aorus Master 16 is one of the cheapest 5080 laptops, there are plenty of interesting competitors for just a little more. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16, for example, looks cooler and has quieter fans; the HP Omen Max and Lenovo Legion Pro 7i both have OLED screens like the Gigabyte. I think I still prefer the Gigabyte’s OLED to the Asus’ Mini LED, but I need to spend more time with the Asus before making that call. I’ll also be testing the Lenovo and HP; their OLED screens could make them closer competitors to the Gigabyte. There’s a lot to like in the Aorus Master 16, but it’s not as easy to love. Its powerful hardware and brilliant OLED display are a treat to game on, but the lackluster GiMate software, basic build quality, and at times maddening fan noise feels like someone knocking the ice cream cone from your hand right after you get it.

The Gigabyte Aorus Master 16 is a powerful gaming laptop with all the latest kit on-board, including a 50-series graphics card from NVIDIA, so any serious creative pro will find plenty to like here. Yes, it's expensive as a result, and the RGB might be a little too much for some, but the Aorus Master 16 is a strong statement laptop as Gigabyte sets its aim at the top of the gaming laptop pile.

I am happy to be in the era of Nvidia’s RTX 50-series GPUs, and Gigabyte seems to share that sentiment, if its killer Aorus Master 16 is any indication. On top of its performance, the Aorus boasts a gorgeous 16-inch display, a bouncy keyboard, and long battery life for gaming in a sleek chassis. However, its SSD is for sure a critical failure. If you want a gaming laptop that didn’t roll a natural 1 on its SSD skill check, consider getting the new Razer Blade 16 (2025). It’s also hella expensive, but it rocks longer overall battery life and a much more colorful display. Otherwise, the Aorus Master 16 is a great choice for those who want to jump into gaming on an RTX 5080 right away.

Of course, the RTX 5080 is one of the big draws for the new Aorus Master 16. It largely delivers, with moderate improvements over the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 in traditional rendering and significant gains via DLSS 4. However, those raw horsepower and rendering gains, modest as they are, seem to be part and parcel with the RTX 50 series. You also can’t draw widespread conclusions about a mobile GPU from one laptop, as every model implements its GPU differently, with unique thermal solutions. The Master 16 supports this graphics chip well, producing potent performance that RTX 5090 or larger last-generation systems couldn't fully lap. As a whole gaming laptop, the Master 16 is a feature-rich product but not a premium one. The OLED screen is fast and brilliant; the laptop is sturdy; and its chassis has lots of connectivity.

16.00":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
