Two weeks ago, we reported that a Xiaomi device—a Poco X3, to be exact—had supposedly gone up in flames without warning. Well, that wasn't to be the last of incidents like that, if a new complaint is anything to go by.
As reported on Twitter, yet another Xiaomi has gone the way of flames, only this time a Redmi Note 9 Pro. According to the complainant, @PriyankaPavra, the device was purchased for a sibling back in December. Four months later, it spontaneously started smoking, prompting said sibling to dump water on it in panic.
While we try to stay away from speculations as to what the cause of the fire was, it's almost certain that the entire incident started with the battery. At the very least, Xiaomi doesn't appear to be laying blame on the customer this time out, like it did with the Poco X3 incident. Either way, it's not a good look for the company to have multiple devices blow up in relatively quick succession.
