With up to 16 GB of RAM, a high-resolution 3:2 display and an optional keyboard cover, the Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro aims to offer compelling value for money.

Amazon's latest tablets leave the Fire branding behind and put Alexa+ in the spotlight. At first glance, the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro looks like a conventional premium mid-range tablet, as Amazon opts for a thin metal body with a flat frame and a 12-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio.

The IPS panel offers a resolution of 2,800 x 1,840 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 500 nits. The tablet is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 that features no fewer than eight ARM Cortex-A725 performance cores, with the fastest core reaching boost clock speeds of up to 3.25 GHz, while the four slower cores act as efficiency cores at clock speeds of up to 2.1 GHz. This is paired with 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM.

The 555-gram tablet offers a 9,000 mAh battery that is said to enable up to 16 hours of video playback. With a keyboard case featuring an integrated trackpad, a pressure-sensitive stylus and Android, including full access to the Google Play Store, the tablet is also intended to serve as a laptop replacement. Amazon's Alexa+ AI assistant is said to handle even complex requests. Quad speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP selfie camera round out the specifications.

Pricing and availability

The Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is now available to pre-order directly from Amazon. The base model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage costs $499, while Amazon charges $679 for the top model with 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and an anti-glare display. The keyboard case costs $149.99, and the stylus is available for $89.99.
