Overall, the Acer TravelMate X313 is a solid device, as far as convertible ultrabooks go. As with others of this nature, those who are unfamiliar with this type of hybrid device might find it uncomfortable due to the loose nature of the unit: it is very top heavy, with a flexing keyboard and, due to being propped up only on the fabric cover, it will feel unstable unless you have it on a solid flat surface, like a desktop or table.

Whether you consider it a laptop or a tablet with bundled keyboard, the Acer TravelMate X313-M is hard to recommend. With its low-res screen, mediocre processor, short battery life and uncomfortable keyboard, the device would be a poor choice for anyone. This hybrid seems particularly ill-advised for its target audience of business users, who need productivity and endurance the most.

Acer Travelmate X313 The Acer Travelmate X313 is yet another entry in a long line of so-so Windows convertible Ultrabooks, and its flaws are entirely familiar. Lackluster battery life? Check. So-so performance? Yep. Poor bundled keyboard? Double-check. We’ve been down this road before, and while the hardware in this system is newer, it falls short for the same reasons as previous models have.

A rounded bundle. Acer's slim laptop pleases with an elegant aluminum casing. The configuration is also fitting: IPS panel, fast processor, SSD. The good battery life, backlit keyboard, and a three-year warranty supplement this.

Acer TravelMate X349-M-56RM
Acer claims that the TravelMate X3 Notebook is slated for the “design-minded professionals”. It is targeted at users who require a powerful notebook that is stylish and at the same time, delivers high performance, and portability. At first glance, it is apparent that this laptop is solidly built with a polished look. It is encased in a sleek aluminium chassis with a brushed-metal finish. Its dimensions measure at 17.9 x 341 x 236.6 mm with a weight of 1.5 kg. This makes the TravelMate X3 a portable and good looking laptop to carry about. Its performance on the display side is equally impressive as its 14-inch panel supports Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) with IPS technology. Visuals and images appear sharp and clear and viewing angles are wide; around 170-degrees. The 180-degree hinge system allows the display panel to lie flat, which makes this laptop ideal for collaboration and discussion. What powers this business laptop is an Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3 GHz processor with the popular Intel HD Graphics 520 graphics adapter. With 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 512 GB SSD, power users are assured of top-notched performance with multitasking capacities. Furthermore, the TravelMate X349 also features an LED backlit keyboard to which enables users to use it even under low-light conditions. It also comes with a spacious touchpad, a recent trend in all HP laptops. This provides users with comfortable input and responsive navigation. The 720p HDR webcam mounted on board is ideal for high-quality video-conferencing. As it is integrated with a Realtek ALC255 sound card (with Intel Sunrise Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller), audio quality on this device is crisp and clear. It is also decked with multiple connection ports including USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen1 ports. A Kensington Lock port is also included for securing this laptop at office or home. Network connectivity consists of both WiFi AC 7265 (a/b/g/h/n/ac) and Bluetooth 4.0. This laptop comes with a whopping 48.9 Wh, 3220 mAh Lithium-Ion battery which promises professionals a longer productivity. Acer ships the TravelMate XS with Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit pre-installed. For added security, the fingerprint sensor supports Windows Hello for fast and secure sign-in but the Iris recognition technology isn't applied in this laptop. Overall, the Acer TravelMate ranks highly in providing powerful security and productivity essentials for business needs. As the name suggests, the TravelMate X349 is focused on mobility. It is definitely an option to look out for to those who require a business laptop to work and travel with confidently. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

The model we reviewed is priced at Rs. 65,000 (plus taxes) but the TravelMate X series starts at roughly Rs. 36,000 (plus taxes) for which, you get a 6th Generation (Skylake) Intel Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD and Linux. The Kaby Lake CPU models can be identified with the ‘G2’ in the name. If you don’t want to go through all this hassle then we recommend waiting for a week or so as Acer will be putting the TravelMate X series on Flipkart very soon.

Remake with a turbo-SSD. Acer issues a Kaby Lake upgrade for their slim TravelMate in an inconspicuous aluminum case. It is faster, and its battery runs for up to 14 hours. The 512 GB SSD storage is not only massive, but it is also extremely fast. With the rest of the equipment, like the IPS screen, a fast processor, the backlit keyboard and a three-year warranty, Acer holds up their established class.

Since we are talking about a sample unit here, you should keep in mind that Acer might polish some sharp edges until they release the laptop. However, all in all we have a positive feedback of the TravelMate X514-51, as two of the main requirements for a successfull business companion have been not only met, but exceeded. We are talking about the portability – the 15 mm profile and weight under 1 kg speak for themselves; and the battery life.

The Acer is lighter than its rivals, and that’s a big advantage – it means this laptop is easier to sling in a bag. It’s still got enough computing power for day-to-day work, and the Acer has excellent battery life. However, the lightweight design and lower price do create compromise. Rival machines have more power alongside better screens, and other laptops also have crisper keyboards. The Surface Laptop 3 and Dell XPS 13 are not exactly heavy, and they serve up more power and finesse for only a little more cash. However, if you need a laptop that’s lighter than anything else – while still providing reasonable computing power – then the Acer is a good option at an affordable price.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on some Skylake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
Intel HD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2) found on some Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
NVIDIA GeForce MX130: Mid-range graphics card for mobiles based on the Maxwell architecture. Renamed GeForce 940MX.
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

Intel Core i3:
3229Y: Ivy-Bridge-based ULV-CPU introduced in Q1 2013. Offers a core clock of 1.4 GHz and an HD 4000 GPU (350 - 850 MHz). The TDP is rated at 13 W.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

78.04%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
