To complement the reveal of the higher-end Predator Helios 700, Acer will be making available the Acer Nitro 5 in both 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch configurations. The new Nitro 5 systems are notable for their 9th gen Core i7-9750H CPU options and GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. In comparison, older configurations were limited to the Coffee Lake-H Core i7-8750H and GTX 1050 Ti GPU or U-class Ryzen 7 with the aging Radeon RX 560X.
When compared to the pricier Nitro 7 series, the Nitro 5 will lack certain display features like a native 144 Hz refresh rate or fast 3 ms response time.
Visually, the new Nitro 5 will have narrower bezels than the last generation model for a more compact first impression. The laptop competes directly with other budget-oriented gaming systems like the Asus TUF FX505/FX705 series or the MSI GF/GP series.
The Nitro 5 with Intel 9th gen CPU and Nvidia Turing GTX 16 GPU will begin shipping later this month for a starting price of $800 USD or $200 cheaper than the Nitro 7. Users in EMEA, however, will have to wait until next month for a higher starting price of 1000 Euros.
