Ever since AMD revealed its RDNA 4 architecture and its planned RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs, the internet has been awash with speculation, leaks, and rumours about specs and performance of the new GPUs. One such recent rumour claimed that the AMD RX 9070 XT would launch in a variant with 32 GB of RAM.
Earlier today, though, AMD finally spilled the beans on an official late February launch date in a post on X. In a subsequent post citing that original reveal, AMD's Frank Azor shot down rumours of a 32 GB RX 9070 XT.
"No, the 9070 XT card is not coming in 32 GB."
Now, it's worth noting that Azor's post only refers to the RX 9070 XT, not RDNA 4 or RX 9000 as a whole, and speculation following the post is that there may be another card coming later down the line with 32 GB. This would theoretically be a replacement for something like the RX 7900 XT (curr. $749.99 on Amazon), 7900 XTX, or 7900 GRE, since all of the aforementioned cards feature more VRAM than the upcoming RX 9070 XT's 16 GB.
Until now, AMD has only revealed two cards based on the RDNA architecture, and odds are the GPU maker has more up its sleeve that will launch at a later date. There's also a strong likelihood that a 32 GB graphics card directed at machine learning and non-gaming workloads is in the works.
