While GPU prices will probably remain substantially inflated over their respective MSRPs for some more months, CPU prices are starting to look quite enticing, especially considering the latest discounts from AMD. It looks like the chip shortages are not affecting the CPU supplies that much anymore, and AMD’s Ryzen 5000 desktop CPUs are outselling Intel’s Comet Lake models by a large margin. Intel fans are most likely waiting for the Alder Lake family to launch in late October, whereas AMD is planning to release 3D V-Cache Ryzen 5000 models in early 2022, so Team Red is spicing things up for the current desktop versions with price drops across the board, as reported by Overclock3D.
Although AMD’s discounts are global, it looks like UK and Europe are benefiting from larger price cuts. Overclock3D is only focusing on the UK market, where the R5 5600X is now available at £245.99 (£289.99 at launch), the R7 5800X is down to £354.79 from £428.99, while the R9 5900X is is getting the largest discount from £529.99 down to £450.00, and the R9 5950X is seeing the smallest cut from £749.99 down to £718.88. Now, if we look at the Amazon UK prices, the discounts are mostly the same, except the R9 5950X is even more affordable at £698.
Videocardz checked out the German prices on the Geizhals site and the R9 5950X price cut immediately stands out as the best deal:
- R5 5600X - €265 (€299 launch price)
- R7 5800X - €379 ( €449 launch price)
- R9 5900X - €489 ( €549 launch price)
- R9 5950X - €699 (€799 launch price)
Over at Amazon US, things are not looking that good. For some reason, the R9 5900X model is considerably overpriced, as its cost now ranges from $589 to as high as $610, up from the initial $549. The other models are benefiting from discounts, but these are smaller compared to the other regions:
- R5 5600X - $273 ($299 launch price)
- R7 5800X - $394 ($449 launch price)
- R9 5950X - $749 ($799 launch price)
These prices could drop even more with the usual Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals coming in November.
