Intel Alder Lake and Z690 motherboard release dates revealed; pre-announcement occurring next month
Last week, @momomo_us leaked not only Intel's full Alder Lake-S, -K and -KF series, but also prices for various SKUs. As we reported, Intel plans to flood the market with desktop Alder Lake processors, ranging from the Core i3-12100 and Core i5-12400 to the likes of the Core i9-12900K.
Now, Wccftech claims to have been informed of Intel's proposed Alder Lake-S and Z690 motherboards release date. Apparently, Intel will not launch either product at its Intel Innovation event, scheduled between October 27 and October 28. Intel boasts that the event will centre around 'AI, 5G, Edge, Cloud and PC solutions with speed and real-world scale', which we would have imagined that Alder Lake and Z690 motherboards fall under.
Instead, Wccftech asserts that the Intel Innovation event will serve as a pre-launch announcement. Reputedly, Intel will reveal general performance metrics, specifications and prices then, whetting fans' appetites. Intel will then wait until November 19 before it starts selling Alder Lake processors and Z690 motherboards.
It is worth noting that Z690 motherboards will support DDR5 RAM out of the box. DDR4 support is planned, although there is no guarantee that this will be ready on launch day. The motherboards also contain an LGA1700 socket that is currently exclusive to Alder Lake CPUs. Other 600 series chipsets should arrive in early 2022.
