AMD has been steadily chipping away at Intel’s desktop and laptop CPU market share for the past few years, but Intel is striking back with the 12th gen Alder Lake processors and it looks like Team Red could be in a bit of trouble, at least until it releases the 3D V-Cache and Zen 4 models later this year. Reports are showing that Intel is already recovering considerable market share in Europe and Japan, whereas AMD’s Ryzen 5000 processors are still among the best selling CPUs in the U.S. As the bulk of Intel’s Alder Lake stocks are starting to hit the U.S. market, AMD is doing some serious price slashing and is now enticing DIY users with juicy discounts of up to 25% on most Ryzen 5000 desktop models.
Tom’s Hardware notes that Amazon appears to have the best deals for AMD’s Ryzen 5000 APUs. Starting with the top-of-the-line Ryzen 9 5950X, AMD is offering a 25% discount, slashing the US$799 launch prices down to US$599, while the Ryzen 9 5900X is down to US$449.99. The mainstream models are also seeing considerable discounts, with the Ryzen 7 5800X being on sale for US$349.99 down from US$449, and the Ryzen 5 5600X is even more affordable at US$229.
Amazon has some nice discounts for the G-series desktop APUs as well. The Ryzen 7 5700G is down to US$294.85 from US$359, and we also see the Ryzen 5 5600G down to US$218.99 from US$259. Micro Center’s discounts are even better when it comes to the Ryzen 7 5800X that is discounted down to US$299.99 or the Ryzen 7 5700G that is now as low as US$249.99, but these deals are only available on location.
