AMD unveiled the Strix Halo lineup at CES 2025, and it brings the company's most capable APUs yet. The top-end option in the series, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, sports 16 Zen 5 cores and features the Radeon 8060S iGPU. This RDNA 3.5 iGPU features 40 CUs, which is a big leap from the Radeon 890M found in the Strix Point series.
However, AMD didn't shed much light on the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 benchmark numbers at CES 2025. Now, as a Reddit user has shared within a thread about our interview with AMD's Ben Conrad, AMD has apparently made detailed marketing material for the Radeon 8060S.
This marketing material claims that the Radeon 8060S can offer up to 68.1% better performance than the RTX 4070 Laptop GPU in gaming. In the chart shared, AMD has showcased the Ryzen AI Max+ 395's performance in 17 games, in which the iGPU got anywhere between 1% to 68.1% lead over the RTX 4070 Laptop GPU.
As AMD notes, these games were tested at 1080p on the High preset. The exact power configurations of the test systems weren't disclosed, but AMD highlights that the comparison is made "at similar TDP." Moreover, the marketing material highlights that the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 system was put against the ROG Flow Z13 with Intel Core i9 13900H and Nvidia RTX 4070 (Core i7-powered ROG Zephyrus G16 curr. $1,099.99 on Best Buy).
Among all, the Radeon 8060S had the highest lead in Borderlands 3, in which the iGPU can apparently offer 68.1% better performance than the RTX 4070 Laptop. Another highlight from the chart is Baldur's Gate 3, where the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is shown to offer 52.6% better performance. You can learn more from the comparison chart attached below.
