Fans of the Realme 14x in Malaysia might have been less than thrilled to be presented with a smartphone of that name, albeit without the potentially killer selling points of an official IP69 rating and a 6,000mAh battery of the version currently available to buy on Amazon in India. Those consumers may or may not be somewhat comforted to know that the OEM apparently has an even worse form of the same deal in the works.
This one might be destined for the Chinese market, as it has been certified by TENAA to use 5G with an SoC clocked at 2.4GHz, which matches that of the Dimensity 6300 found in the existing 14x. It also has the same reduced 5,000mAh capacity and looks of the 14x Malaysian Edition, albeit without the single "50MP AI" rear camera.
Instead, it has an outdated lone 13MP shooter to go with its 8MP selfie camera. Unlike the Indian or Malaysian editions, it is finished in a dark blue colorway also seen in the apparently impending, 4G/LTE-only variant recently registered by the FCC.
The 2 devices are not one and the same however, as the most recently-spotted one is associated with a different model number - 2 numbers, in fact: RMX3946 and RMX3948.
That detail might be explained by the fact that it has been registered with a choice of 4, 6, 8 or 12GB of RAM.
Furthermore, it might have 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or even 1TB of internal storage, as opposed to the 128GB option to which the 14x is restricted in India.
