AMD Ryzen 9 180

The Ryzen 9 180 is a laptop SoC from the Hawk Point Refresh family. The chip is similar to the older Ryzen 7 8745H or Ryzen 7 H 255 and features 8 cores (16 threads thanks to SMT support) clocked at up to 4.9 GHz, as well as the still quite powerful Radeon 780M iGPU. The NPU, known as AMD Ryzen AI, delivers up to 16 TOPS of performance.
Performance
Performance should be comparable to that of the older Ryzen 7 8745H . This places the CPU in the lower mid-range of current laptop processors.
Architecture and Features
Unlike Zen 3, Zen 4 offers AVX-512 support as well as other improvements such as larger caches, registers, and buffers. In addition, the Ryzen 9 180 features 16 MB of L3 cache and a fast RAM controller (supporting up to LPDDR5x-7500 or DDR5-5600). Twenty PCI Express 4.0 lanes are available for connecting devices such as NVMe SSDs (1.97 GB/s per lane) and graphics cards. USB 4/Thunderbolt support is also included. The APU cannot be overclocked or replaced by the user. It is permanently soldered to the motherboard (FP7r2 or FP8 socket interface).
Graphics
The Radeon 780M (12 CUs / 768 shaders, up to 2,500 MHz) can drive four monitors simultaneously at resolutions up to SUHD 4320p. Hardware encoding and decoding of the most common video codecs (AV1, AVC, HEVC) is also no problem.
Power Consumption
The chip is manufactured by TSMC using the relatively recent N4 FinFET process (4 nm) and is specified with a configurable TDP ranging from 35 to 54 watts.
