The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D seemingly popped out of nowhere as the first Ryzen 5 chip with a 3D V-cache. While no price or release date was hinted at, the CPU was bound to show up sooner rather than later, given that its next-generation counterparts have been out and about for a while. Tom's Hardware has new information about the Zen 4 CPU's price and availability.
In the US, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D will cost US$229 and be available exclusively via Micro Center, starting on July 7. It isn't immediately clear if the processor will be available in other regions. The situation should become clear once AMD officially comments on it, which has yet to happen. All we know for now is that the company has partnered exclusively with Micro Center for the endeavour.
At US$229, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D is an attractive option for budget gamers, especially when combined with a frequently-discounted Radeon RX 6000 or GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics card. Unfortunately, stocks appear to be quite limited. Nonetheless, it paves the way for a Ryzen 5 7600X3D existing in the future, and this time, AMD would do well to launch it before Zen 5 drops.
