AMD today confirmed the specifications, launch price, and features of the RDNA 4-based AMD Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs. While the RX 9070 and 9070 XT are stacking up to be a solid value for the mid-range, AMD also teased the announcement of the RX 9060, which will likely be an entry-level GPU to take on the likes of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 when that eventually launches.
According to the confirmation at the end of AMD's RDNA 4 presentation, AMD will launch the RX 9060 and 9060 XT GPUs as soon as Q2 2025. That means a launch window anywhere between the start of April and the end of June. If previous leaks are anything to go by, the hardware may be somewhat contentious, though. We reported on a hardware leak late December that suggested the Radeon RX 9060 would launch with a mere 12 GB of VRAM. This puts it right between the expected VRAM amounts for the Nvidia RTX 5060 (8 GB) and 5060 Ti (16 GB).
It remains to be seen how much VRAM the RX 9060 XT launches with, but it wouldn't be surprising to see it launch with the same 16 GB as the "high-end" RX 9070 XT, since the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT (curr. $317.99 on Amazon) launched with 16 GB of VRAM.
What's perhaps most tantalising about the prospect of an affordable RX 9060 series is that it will bring FSR4 and all of the other enhanced machine learning and ray tracing features to a more affordable price bracket for Team Red.
