8BitDo has updated the availability of its latest 8BitDo 64 refresh. Announced a fortnight ago, the Classic Grey variant was previously only sold via 8BitDo directly. For those who prefer to avoid buying from manufacturers directly, 8BitDo has now got you covered.
To recap, the Classic Grey expands on the original 8BitDo 64 with a nostalgic blend of colourful buttons and a textured grey housing. Arguably, the Classic Grey variant is the closest remake of the original Nintendo 64 controller yet, thanks to its red start button, yellow C buttons, blue A button and green B button.
The look is helped by solid recreations of the Nintendo 64's joystick and d-pad too, original ergonomics be damned. The 8BitDo 64 Classic Grey boasts Switch and Switch 2 compatibility, as well as Android and PC functionality. 8BitDo will offer Switch 2 support via a firmware update, though.
As the image below shows, the 8BitDo 64 Classic Grey can now be pre-ordered on Amazon for $44.99. In other words, 8BitDo is not imposing a financial penalty for those who purchase its new wireless controller from Amazon rather than from its e-commerce platform. Still, the Classic Grey variant retails for $5 more than its Black and White counterparts despite containing the same core functionality. Unfortunately, the new controller will not begin shipping in the US before January 30, 2026, either.
