With Dark Craft, Kazakh studio Take Top Entertainment has introduced a new MMORPG that merges two well-known worlds: challenging, Souls-like action in the vein of Dark Souls and a sharp-edged, Minecraft-inspired art style. The game was officially announced on December 2, and the announcement trailer is now available on YouTube.
According to the developers, Dark Craft takes players into a grim dark-fantasy world filled with ruins, temples, forests and abandoned villages. The game world is designed to function independently, continuing to evolve whether players are online or not. Gameplay centers around a tactical combat system inspired by Souls-like mechanics, featuring both PvE and PvP elements. Loot follows a high-risk system – winners earn rewards, while those who fall in battle lose what they’ve collected. One standout feature is the Game Master system, which allows developers to actively influence live sessions. They can step in as a world boss, trigger spontaneous events or unleash surprise enemy hordes to keep players on their toes.
Some aspects are making players skeptical
Dark Craft is set to launch as a free-to-play title and will include microtransactions. While this makes the game more accessible, it has also raised concerns among players about potential pay-to-win elements – especially since Take Top Entertainment has so far only developed mobile games. Dark Craft marks the studio’s first major MMORPG for PC.
The cinematic trailer has received praise on YouTube for its visual style, but many viewers remain cautious due to the lack of gameplay footage. Despite the skepticism, the core idea of blending Minecraft-like visuals with Dark Souls-inspired mechanics in an MMO setting has been met with genuine interest.
No release window yet
So far, no release window has been confirmed for Dark Craft. However, an Early Access launch in late 2026 or sometime in 2027 seems possible. In the meantime, players can already add the game to their wishlist on Steam.
