CES 2024 | 2024 Acer Predator Helios Neo 18 and 16 gaming laptops are official with up to Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and RTX 4070 GPU
Acer’s Helios Neo machines are mid-range notebooks that sit below the high-end Helios gaming laptops. The company has now refreshed the Helios Neo 16 with the latest Intel CPUs while introducing the new Helios Neo 18, a cheaper alternative to the Helios 18.
Starting with the internals, both the Helios Neo 16 and Helios Neo 18 are powered by a Core i9-14900HX CPU and an RTX 4070 laptop GPU on the top end. The availability of a Core i9-14900HX on the smaller Predator Helios Neo 16 should provide a nice CPU upgrade over the 2023 Helios Neo 16 that topped out at a Core i7-13700HX. Similarly, the 2024 Helios Neo 16 and 18 are getting faster RAM in the form of 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory vs DDR5-4800 that is available on the 2023 Helios Neo 16 (Buy it on Amazon).
Display-wise, the Predator Helios Neo 16 and Neo 18 feature 16 and 18-inch IPS panels with up to a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, a speedy 240 Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. Additionally, both Helios Neo 16 and Neo 18 come equipped with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus which reduces latency by dynamically engaging the discreet GPU when the need arises.
When it comes to connectivity options, the Predator Helios Neo 16 and Neo 18 pack a varied port selection which includes two USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, and a microSD slot.
Finally, both Helios Neo machines feature AI video calling tools like other 2024 Acer laptops and DTS:X Ultra Surround Sound speakers for enhanced visual and sound reproduction.
The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 and Neo 18 are scheduled to be available next month starting at €1,599 ($1,752) and €1,499 ($1,644) respectively.
