2021 Dell G15 laptop refresh comes with 115 W TGP GeForce RTX GPUs, sparkling color options, and a completely new design inspired by Alienware
Take a step down from the normally expensive Alienware series and you'll land on the more affordable Dell G series of gaming laptops. These latter models forego many of the luxurious design features of an Alienware to maximize performance per dollar. For 2021, Dell will be launching its latest 15.6-inch G15 refresh in China this month before introducing the new model overseas in the weeks to follow.
We don't know too much about the system at the moment as Dell is opting to keep its detailed specifications under wraps, but we do know that the 2021 G15 will include new display options up to 360 Hz, three GeForce RTX 30 GPU options up to 115 W TGP, optional 4-zone RGB keyboard lighting, and four new color options including "Dark Shadow Grey", "Spector Green with Speckles", "Phantom Grey with Speckles", and "Obsidian Black". The "speckles" will likely be similar to the sparkling colors of the outer lid on the older 2020 G5 that the 2021 G15 will supplant.
Speaking of the 2020 model, the 2021 version will incorporate an upgraded chassis that borrows heavily from the Alienware m15 series as shown by the images below. Dell says the thermal system will be upgraded as well, but it remains to be seen if that implies vapor chamber cooling.
We expect more details on the 2021 Dell G5 to come toward the end of the month.
