Deal | All-AMD Dell G5 15 SE gaming laptop with Ryzen 5 4600H CPU and Radeon RX 5600M graphics now on sale for $685 USD
Trying to buy a desktop gaming PC at a decent price can be difficult nowadays due to the obscene markup on the latest graphics cards. Fortunately, most gaming laptops are still fairly affordable especially in the budget to mid-range categories. Dell is currently holding a sale on its G5 15 SE gaming laptop for almost $250 USD off its original 2020 launch price.
The system is notable for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it carries a Ryzen 5 4600H CPU and Radeon RX 5600M GPU unlike the vast majority of Intel or Nvidia-powered gaming laptops in the market. The AMD CPU and GPU are comparable to the Core i7-10875H and mobile GeForce RTX 2060, respectively, which typically retail for hundreds of dollars more. Secondly, the hardware integrates AMD SmartShift which is the same technology in the PlayStation 5 to squeeze more performance out of the CPU and GPU.
Major drawbacks to the deal are the low 8 GB of RAM and unattractive plastic chassis design. Luckily, system RAM is easily upgradeable if desired. The G5 15 series is positioned to be a cheaper alternative when compared to the sleeker and pricier Alienware designs.
