The iPhone 16e is Apple's first single rear camera smartphone since the last SE, although the 2 devices have little in common otherwise, new $599.99 starting price included.
The 16e has the OEM's new electrically-debondable adhesive removal system for its battery also seen in the standard flagship 16, as confirmed by REWA Technology and PBKReviews.
Now, Canada's PhoneRepairGuru has weighed in on the 16e teardown fun by determining that its screen is interchangeable with that of the older 14, which might further enhance its reparability in terms of ease and cost-effectiveness.
PhoneRepairGuru also found that other old iPhone parts fit and/or work in the 16e, the MagSafe charging coils from the 15 as well as the 14 included - which, as Apple has taken it on itself to decide that the feature isn't a priority for 16e customers, is odd.
The device was even shown to perfectly accommodate a replacement set of charging magnets (readily available on Amazon) inside its rear panel, even when it was sealed back in place on re-assembly.
They did not increase the 16e's charging speed (set at a standard 7.5 watts (W) as opposed to as much as 25W with 'true' MagSafe), yet were shown to restore compatibility with puck-style chargers to the new 'budget' iPhone.
Then again, it is also possible to achieve the same result with a new case for your iPhone 16e instead.
