Ulefone has announced that it has a new 10.1-inch FHD+ tablet for sale. The Tab A8 aims for a high-end appearance with support for 4G/LTE as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a slim metallic unibody and an unavoidably Xiaomi 13-esque camera hump - however, its internal specs knocks it down to a more affordable tier of the mobile device market. Then again, it has a headphone jack - just not normally where you'd expect to find one.

Ulefone seems to have been focusing on its Armor series of rugged smartphones with ever increasing frequency as of late. However, the OEM has also acknowledged that tablets have their place, particularly in having a large enough screen to accommodate everyday learning, light mobile gaming or working. To this end, it has added a new slate to its retail arsenal.

The new device seems to target Samsung's Galaxy Tab A8 in terms of its name, but goes for the Xiaomi 13 series with its up-to-date camera hump. Then again, unlike that new Leica-branded flagship, the Ulefone version houses just 1 13MP shooter from OmniVision (despite having 2 lens cut-outs).

There is also a 5MP selfie camera set in a landscape orientation into the bezel (which is also where the 13 comparisons end) around the Tab A8's 10.1-inch, 16:10, FHD+ LCD display. It is rated to show an apparently stock Android 12-based UI using the MediaTek MT6762V/WB, a variant of the Helio P22 SoC with the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU clocked at 650MHz.

It confers 4G/LTE SIM support on the tablet, as well as that for dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. The Ulefone Tab A8 also even has a 3.5mm jack - which is found drilled into or very nearly into 1 corner of its chassis - an unusual placement that might have been necessary to also fit a "cinematic" side-firing speaker array in there.

Both potential audio advantages are found alongside a USB type-C port (in a more predictable location this time) and a microSD card slot that boosts the tablets 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage specs with up to 256GB more memory. These specs are all packed into a metal unibody just 7.35mm high - maybe because it also houses a battery that, at 6,580mAh, could be bigger.

The Tab A8 is available to order in 1 color (gray) from ulefone.com at a price of US$199.99. Then again, the 6GB RAM Alldocube iPlay50 is available with fairly comparable specs, just without the new camera hump (although the screen resolution is better at 2K) for US$119 on Amazon today.
