Unlike even the newest of the Ulefone rugged smartphones sold on Amazon, the Note 16 Pro is rated to run a form of Android that is up-to-date (for now) on first boot. Then again, the new device lacks any of its Power Armor cousin's interesting features, and has a quite conventional build by comparison.
In fact, the 16 Pro is ostensibly gunning for the Redmi Note 12 line in terms of design as well as series name. The Ulefone take on the double-barrel rear camera/flat-edged chassis even has a 50MP main camera - the Samsung ISOCELL JN1, as opposed to anything newer, however.
Ulefone also touts the Note 16 Pro in terms of its large(ish) 6.52-inch display - although it is HD+ and has a water-drop notch in place of a punch-hole selfie camera. The screen is driven by the Unisoc T606 processor and is kept on by a relatively small 4,400mAh battery.
The 16 Pro has 8GB of RAM out of the box - however, its Android 13-based OS can re-allocate up to 8GB of its 128GB internal storage more to act as additional working memory, thereby backing the 16GB value found on its new AliExpress page. Then again, it also offers a 3.5mm jack and a microSD card slot.
The Ulefone Note 16 Pro currently has a price of US$$245.98 on that site (not far off that of the new Qualcomm-powered, 120Hz AMOLED-display Redmi Note 12R Pro) - however, the brand has also indicated that it will be available for as little as US$101.99 from May 10 to 14, 2023 as part of a special event.
