The OnePlus TV may not be OLED
OnePlus is mainly known as a maker of competitive smartphones. However, it does also sell other products, most notably travel accessories and wireless neckbuds. This OEM also announced that it was going to launch a smart TV some time in the near future. Lately, the well-known tech tipster Ishan Agarwal posted about this product on Twitter, indicating that he had heard that this new device would be here soon.
This company is currently associated with one of the most high-end smartphone displays on the market. However, it now seems that this will not translate to its first-gen TV. Agarwal followed up on his initial post with a remark to the effect that he didn't "think it will be OLED". This suggests that OnePlus has not exactly splashed out on materials for its inaugural full-sized screen.
Such a move would hardly be surprising, however, as OnePlus did start off under "flagship-killer" terms as a smartphone OEM. It could make more sense for the company to focus on the device's software (OxygenOS is well-regarded, after all) as a selling point. On that note, it is also likely to compete heavily with Xiaomi in the TV market in certain regions, and a good launch-day price would be an excellent place to start.
