Now also Apple Recalls 1.8 Millions of Notebook-Batteries
Category: other notebook newsBy: Stefan Hinum
Now also Apple had to react to the pressure and could not keep on maintaining the appeasement politics further. The gigantic quantity of 1.8 million batteries is larger than every quantity of notebook battery recall actions in 2005, nevertheless clearly outnumbered by the 4.1 millions of recalled Dell batteries.
However it must be considered, that the market share of Dell is higher at the notebook market. The incidents with burning notebooks affected not only Dell laptops, but also smaller amounts of Apple notebooks. 2 Apple users suffered light burns. Again the batteries are made by Sony. Probably Sony will pay a part of the gigantic recall costs concerted with Dell and Apple and thereby expects costs of up to 260 million dollar.
