The two new 3D models are G51J3D and G72GX
Watch out Acer!!! Asus has entered the 3D territory, not with one, but two laptops. These laptops have a 3D display and are a steal deal which would at any cost make gaming enthusiasts part with their hard earned money. And yes, they will do it happily as the laptops are worth the money spent.
The laptops from Asus, launched under the G series, are for serious gamers who want nothing but the best in terms of display, performance, graphics, and audio.
So hardcore gamers, here come the newly launched 3D G series laptops from Asus: the 15.6-inch Asus G51J3D and the 17.3-inch Asus G72GX.
While the details for the higher model laptop is still under tight security, but it is known that the G51J3D uses Nvidia’s GeForce GTX160M graphics chip with 1GB of dedicated DDR 3 video memory. Now that ensures some real hardcore gaming experience. Other features of G51J3D include 4GB RAM, and 2x 320GB HDD.
Both the laptops screens have a 120Hz refresh rate (needed for 3D) and are powered by Intel's Core i7 chip and use active shutter technology. This active-shutter technology allows up to 15 people to sit and watch a 3D film without the viewing angle causing problems. The laptops, with the help of some clever software, are capable of converting 2D into 3D. All this technology puts the machine way ahead of Acer’s 3D offering.
Now with all this serious stuff coming in from Asus, it is without doubt, that Acer needs an upgraded laptop for the market. The 3D laptop from Acer which is currently on offer is the 15.6in Acer Aspire 5738DZG which uses polarizing filters for its 3D, a technology which is inferior to active shutter.
No word on pricing just yet, but the company plans to launch the G51J3D next month, and the G72GX during Q2 2010 giving you a few more months to save your pennies. We will keep you updated on these two models.
