Asustek predicts record Eee PC sales in Q4

The target - 1.9 million units
Reportedly, the developer of the well-known Eee PC, Asustek, aims at shipping a record amount of units in the fourth quarter this year.
Asustek Computer announced Eee PC netbook shipments will reach 1.9 million units as it is doing very well on both the European and Chinese markets. Moreover, the company was close to shipping as many units in Q3 of 2008 with 1.7 million devices distributed.
Q3 of this year, which ended on September 31, was also profitable for Asustek with 1.6 million Eee PCs shipped.
Allegedly, company’s notebooks sales were also quite strong in the third quarter beating the 2 million unit’s line. Moreover, Asustek’ laptop sales will possibly reach 2.4 million units in Q4 of 2009, the company predicts.
With its launch in 2007, Eee PC was a very popular product enabling Asustek to ship 4.9 million netbooks last year before being hurt by the worldwide recession. In addition, rival Acer managed to reach 6 million units in 2008 and thus achieving the top spot.
