Apple to offer matte display option on 15-inch MacBook Pro

Buyers will have to shell out $50 more for the matte screen
About a month ago, Apple was mulling the possibility of adding a matte display option to its line-up of 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros. The 17-inch MacBook Pro already gives buyers an option to choose a glossy display or a matte display. Now, Apple has extended this choice to the buyers who want the “not-so-big” 15-inch MacBook Pro. Off course, users would still have to pay an additional $50 if they want the matte display. It will replace that svelte borderless look present on glossy displays with a silver frame bezel.
The glossy displays were introduced to provide crisp images and vivid colors which are ideal for viewing photos and movies. They are easier to clean and they produce brighter, richer colors and deeper blacks, for a crisper overall image. Moreover, the edge-to-edge cover glass created a smooth, seamless surface just as on the iPhone. This display however met with certain opposition from users, who believed that it tends to complicate color matching and it is difficult to view in the sun. Now, all that is fixed as users can themselves decide which display is better and which screen would they want on their MacBook.
